Superconductivity and the electricity supply industries
Thursday, 27th November 2003
Held on at the IEE Savoy Place, London.
The Subject The meeting reviewed materials and cryogenic technologies,
and reviewed specific projects for cables, transformers, synchronous condensers,
dynamic supermagnetic energy storage systems (for power quality) and fault current limiters.
The conclusion of the meeting was that new products (such as FCLs) and niche markets (such as equipment for shipping rather than utility use on land)
were where the best opportunities lie for future deployment.
